Week Nine

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

In the last post, we mentioned that Madeline was very close to being able to laugh. Well, later that evening, we heard her first giggle. We were goofing around with her and we both started laughing and in joined Madeline. It was a very exciting moment.

During the week, Madeline also took her first trip to the grocery store. We had been avoiding this because we were not quite sure how to keep her entertained in one cart while pushing the other and grabbing groceries. But it all worked out. She is very curious about everything, so we kept her amused by showing her most of the stuff we bought. She stared at all the bright packaging. She responded most to the bag of lettuce. Andre’ put it at the bottom of her feet so she could kick it and somehow she grabbed hold of it and pulled it up her body. She then sat there and crinkled the bag over and over.

She’s Two Months Old!

Friday, September 26th, 2008

It’s hard to believe that it’s been two months since Madeline entered our lives. It’s also difficult to believe how much she’s grown and changed over a short period of time. She’s still working to perfect holding her head up and grabbing onto objects (she just recently started grabbing at her clothing and blankets). Now she is starting to work on a giggle and it shouldn’t be long before we hear a true laugh. And we’re looking forward to that – finally someone will think we’re funny!

She’s also gotten very good at smiling and has started to show extreme excitement when Andre’ walks into the house after being gone all day at work. It’s also the only lovely thing about getting up at 3 or 5 am to feed her. She grins from ear to ear when she sees you.

We’re very blessed to share our lives with her. It’s fun to introduce her to things and watch her eyes light up at something new.  We’re so thankful that she’s healthy and appears to be very happy!
