A Bug's World

We’re often asked what words Madeline is saying. At this point, we think she knows dada, mama, kiki (kitty), uh or uh-oh, and she may even be saying hi and hey in context. She says baba too, but we’re not sure if it has a meaning to her or if it is a sound she is making. She is extremely lively and babbles most of her awake time. She may not be saying a whole lot, but there are times when it is apparent that she understands what we are saying to her.

Her walking is improving, but she still drops to crawl if she wants to go more quickly across the floor. At times walking does become a slight trot, especially if daddy comes home or Galileo enters the room.

We’ve also discovered accidentally that she can drink through a straw. Jennifer bought a milkshake one day and while standing at the front door to the house, Madeline started drinking it down. What can we say, the girl loves ice cream.

It’s such a fun time in our household. Madeline is doing something new fairly often. Her personality keeps emerging and she is just a neat little person all around. Her new thing is waving and it’s fun to watch her get excited as she waves frantically.

We were having dinner one night at a new Japanese restaurant and she waved at this one waitress every time she entered the room. But the cutest wave occurred one of the first times she ever waved. Jennifer was on the phone with Andre’ and had him on speaker phone so Madeline could talk to him. From across the room she came walking and started waving and saying “dada.”
